An initial investigation determined the semitrailer was southbound on U.S. 75 and failed to negotiate the curve. The truck left the highway, traveled through the west ditch and a business parking lot, crossed Jackson Street and struck a tree in a residential yard, the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver's name will not be released until proper identification is made at the state medical examiner's office.
