With the attention and focus turning to the future of the Chicago Bears coaching search and front office, there's been plenty of talk around the future of general manager Ryan Poles and his standing with the team.
After three offensive coordinators and two head coaches this season, the Bears have been unable to break their current nine-game losing streak, and the season couldn't come to an end quick enough. Blame can be put on many people inside the Bears organization, from ownership, to the front office, and players on the field.
When introducing Thomas Brown as the team's interim head coach, team president Kevin Warren emphatically stood behind Poles and said that he will remain the team's GM and will be part of leading the search for the team's next coach. Warren is not the only one to give Poles a vote of confidence, as wide receiver DJ Moore did the same on Monday.
Moore was asked during his weekly radio appearance on 670 the Score if he believes Poles' job is in danger and put the blame on the players.
"I don't think so," Moore said Monday. "He put together a great roster. He's been doing the best that he can. He can't go out there and play for us. We got to do that and play for him."
One of the biggest takeaways from Moore's comments on Poles is that the superstar wide receiver believes that Poles put together a great roster, which wouldn't have been reflected in the team's record this year.
If the team is unable to close out the season with at least one win, it may put a dark cloud over the future of Poles. Going into the offseason, the Bears will have extra draft capital, including what is projected to be three picks in the top 50, over $80 million in cap space, and quarterback Caleb Williams waiting in the wings to continue his development.
The results haven't been shown on the field, but there continues to be support behind Poles who will likely put his future on the line with the next head coach he hires.
