Watch ISRO Roll Out PSLV Rocket To Launch SPADEX Mission On December 30

ISRO has shared a time-lapse video of the PSLV rocket being rolled out to the launch pad for SPADEX mission. The technology demonstration mission is scheduled to take off at 9:58 pm IST on December 30 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The PSLV-C60 launch vehicle has been moved to the launch pad after its assembly at the PSLV Integration Facility (PIF).

The video shows the sequence of the rocket's roll out to the Mobile Service Tower at the first launch pad.

"PSLV-C60, fully integrated up to PS4 at the PIF facility for the first time, was moved to the MST at the First Launch Pad -- over 3 hours captured in just a few seconds," ISRO captioned the video.

Short for Space Docking Experiment, the SPADEX mission is meant to demonstrate the technology required to mate two spacecrafts in orbit. The mission includes two satellites - Chaser and Target that ISRO will try to dock about 470 kilometres in the Earth orbit.

According to ISRO, the primary objectives of the mission include demonstrating the transfer of electric power between the docked spacecraft, composite spacecraft control and payload operations after undocking. This mission's success will pave the way for the assembly of the Bharatiya Antariksha Station and the Chandrayaan-4 mission, which will involve collecting samples.

Besides, the SPADEX mission also includes 24 payloads from various institutions for in-orbit experiments. Some of them will continue for up to two years, ISRO said.
