A woman suspected of weeks of package thievery, earning her the scorn of South Boston residents, was arrested Tuesday by police officers as they delivered gifts for Christmas, authorities said.
While bringing toys to children around South Boston late Tuesday morning, a police cadet spotted Kerri Flynn, 34, who matched the description of a notorious neighborhood package thief, a statement from the department said.
The suspect had been spotted stealing packages in South Boston for weeks, and residents who contacted police have referred to her as the "Tom Brady of stealing packages," according to a police report.
Officers found Flynn with "two bags stuffed with unopened packages," the report said. She also had outstanding arrest warrants on charges of shoplifting in Taunton and receiving stolen property in the Boston area.
Flynn was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in the South Boston division of Boston Municipal Court on charges of larceny from a building, police said.
According to court records, she appeared in the South Boston courthouse later Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property. She was released without bail.
The stolen packages were returned to their rightful owners, police noted in their report.
