JACKSON COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The North Carolina Department of Insurance said a Jackson County man was arrested for unlicensed bail bonding.
Officials said 30-year-old Jonah Taylor Biddix posted a bond using a power of attorney from Palmetto Surety Corporation. The incident occurred on July 2 when Biddix reportedly knew he was not licensed to act as a surety bondsman.
"The public must trust that bail bondsmen and bondswomen will operate within the scope of the law, so it's troubling when they do not," Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey said. "Thanks to our agents for bringing this case to light."
