The sale of Benton Harbor's former House of David was supposed to close in November.
Now, that deal has been delayed until next year.
History and Real Estate Broker Chris Siriano says "So at the latest it'll be the end of February and hopefully sooner, but I'm not hold my hold my breath about that".
Benton Harbor's former House of David Building was supposed to be officially sold in November.
But after contract negotiation delays, the deal may not be finalized until this February.
"We just signed a 30 day 60 day extension To close at the end of February There's a massive amount of due diligence that's had to have been done and being done with the MEDC", says Siriano.
The building has been vacant since 2011 due to lack of interest from buyers.
According to Siriano, multiple retail shops have been showing interest in putting their stores on the first floor of the building.
Condos are also in the conversation for the top floor of the building.
The renovations could potentially cost anywhere between 5 and 10 million dollars.
Siriano says "The excitement of so many retailers wanting to be involved on the main floor is overwhelming people want to come from all over and not only all over Michigan, but even Chicago land to participate in the the ground floor retail opportunities".
Officials say they are trying to get more grant money approved for the building.
The buyer has not been made public yet, but is said to own over 42 luxury hotels in the Midwest region.
The sale price is reported to be 5 hundred and forty five thousand dollars.
"It'll it will bring in people from all over everywhere. So not just Benton Harbor, but it will definitely hugely impact Benton Harbor and the economics and and you know the all the vital things that make a city important" says Siriano.
